Two ponies at Widbrook Equestrian Centre have helped raise £1,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Chesney and Garfield, owned by the Saxon Group of the Riding for the Disabled, which meets at Widbrook, took part in a triathlon to raise the cash. RDA instructors Jo Rutherford and Kady Chatman teach disabled riders at Widbrook and took on the challenge with Jo's daugther Holly.

Their triathlon included a 30-mile cycle, a 10-mile horse ride and a 10-mile run.

Karen Griggs, manager at Widbrook said it was a tremedous effort by all, humans and horses. "Many of our clients ride Chesney and Garfield during the week when they're not being used by the RDA and everyone will be delighted with their efforts. They are much loved ponies and it's great to see them making headlines."
